European Study on Culture and Democracy

Culture Venture’s founder and director Toni Attard has been appointed as Malta’s national expert for the European Commission’s Culture and Democracy Study and Peer Learning initiative, focusing on school/culture collaborations for civic engagement and critical citizenship education.

The study will explore how schools, artists, and cultural organisations can work together to strengthen young people’s democratic attitudes and civic participation. It aims to generate new knowledge and provide concrete guidance for both policy and practice across Europe.

The project is led by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture, and is being implemented by Visionary Analytics in cooperation with KEA European Affairs, following an open call for tenders.

Through its role, Culture Venture will contribute to Malta-based research, insights, and examples of good practice, ensuring that the voices of local stakeholders form part of a broader European peer-learning process on culture, education, and democracy.
