New cultural policy for Malta

, ,

Malta’s 2011 national cultural policy was the first official cultural policy for Malta and provided a five year policy framework for the development of the cultural and the creative sectors. Since then, rapidly-evolving global and local factors have transformed our cultural landscape. Some of the goals that were set in 2011 have been achieved more successfully than others, while new challenges have emerged. A new national cultural policy is currently being designed and Culture Venture has been engaged by the Ministry for Justice, Culture and Local Government to advise the Ministry on the development of the new policy and to co-author Malta’s National Cultural Policy 2020 – 2025. A consultation process was launched in June 2018 and the draft policy is expected to be launched in Quarter 1 2019.
