Community engagement in culture, as a right and as a tool for cohesion and development are integrated across various national programmes and initiatives. Notably, the Premju tal-President għall-Kreattività has over the years developed as a flagship funding programme with a spillover of cultural policy principles on social policy.
Despite the increasing importance of the cultural and creative sectors, there is missing research on the impact of programmes on beneficiaries, funders and partner organisations.
Toni Attard and Dr Valerie Visanich were awarded a public tender to conduct an evaluation of Il-Premju tal-President għall-Kreattività. The project will:
- Assess the current governance and management structure of the Award;
- Evaluate the impact of the programme by eliciting in-depth knowledge and expertise on
artists’ and persons who benefitted from this fund;
- Propose a framework to review projects in the coming years;
- Recommend actions to improve the programme.
The research project is expected the be completed by Q3 2019.
