Cesare Fialà Co-Founder and CEO of Culture Hint LTD shares his insights on the latest collaboration with culture venture

Culture Hint is the optimisation platform for cultural venues, districts and cities. Their software forecast visitors needs while optimising their clients’ operations to increase visitor satisfaction, visitor numbers and revenue. Culture Hint is on a mission to revolutionise the sector with its cutting-edge AI technology.

Culture Hint’s journey started in 2019, and has been one of milestones and impact. In early 2020, the company secured its first UK client, marking the beginning of its growth and expansion. Culture Hint then made its first international expansion in Singapore in 2021. In 2022 they opened an Irish subsidiary, to be closer to Europe, and started working with Italy and Malta the same year.

Their latest project in Malta, financed by the Malta Digital Innovation Agency (MDIA), is taking place at Spazju Kreattiv, Malta’s centre for creativity located at St. James’ Cavalier. Spearheaded by the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage in Malta, the project aims to increase visitor numbers at Spazju Kreattiv by combining Culture Hint’s AI technology with Culture Venture’s audience development research.

The project started in the summer of 2022 and is expected to conclude in the second quarter of 2023. So far, it has already achieved great results in increasing visitor numbers to Spazju Kreattiv. The ultimate goal is to produce a case study that can be replicated by other historical buildings in Malta and beyond.

Culture Hint’s approach to increasing visitor numbers involves a three-step process. The first step is to monitor visitor flow in real-time, allowing the team to understand how visitors interact with the venue. The second step is to forecast visitor flow for the upcoming days, down to an hour-by-hour forecast. Finally, Culture Hint optimises operations to increase visitor numbers by making data-driven recommendations for improving the visitor experience.

The use of AI in cultural tourism is a relatively new development, but it has already proven to be incredibly effective. The case study in Malta is the first of its kind, and it demonstrates the power of AI to enhance the cultural tourism experience. Cultural managers in Malta should take note of this innovative project, as it could provide a blueprint for future cultural tourism initiatives.

Culture Hint and Culture Venture’s collaboration in Malta is a prime example of how AI can be used to improve the cultural tourism experience. By combining AI with audience development techniques, they have been able to achieve great results in increasing visitor numbers at Spazju Kreattiv. This project should be a source of inspiration for other historical buildings in Malta and beyond, as it demonstrates the potential for AI to transform the cultural tourism landscape.
