Regional cultural strategies and training

Culture Venture was the key expert for the provision of cultural strategy development and implementation to local councils and regional committees as part of Arts Council Malta’s ESF-funded project ‘Create 2020 – Investing in cultural and creative capacity skills in Malta’s public sector’. This was the first time that regional cultural strategies were designed for Local Councils in Malta and Gozo.

The public tender, awarded to Mdina International, brought together national and international experts to:

a) Formulate six regional cultural strategies together with the local councils and regional committees by: i) Researching and analysing existing cultural products/initiatives as well as current strategies/policies; ii) Consulting with the regional committees and the public to formulate the regional cultural strategies; iii) Mentoring the local councils and regional committees throughout the strategy design process so that the strategies were developed and formulated together with them.

b) Provide training on the implementation of the developed regional cultural strategies to the local councils and regional committees.

The team of experts for the first phase of the project included Toni Attard, Morgan Parnis, Dr. Valerie Visanich, Dr. Karsten Xuereb, Caldon Mercieca, Daniel Azzopardi, and Sandro Debono. The team collaborated with Dr. Tom Fleming and Esprimi.
