Training in cultural production

Culture Venture is collaborating with Mdina International to lead the training faculty for cultural production as part of Arts Council Malta’s ESF Project ‘Create 2020 – Investing in cultural and creative capacity skills in Malta’s public sector’. The training programme will provide three specialised modules to public sector employees from 10 different cultural entities in Malta. As stand-alone modules the programme will provide participants with the possibility of following individual modules, or else progress from one module to another to complete the series.

Modules will be delivered by experts in the fields of cultural event planning and management, marketing for cultural events and stage and production management.

  1. Cultural Event Planning and Management
    Participants completing the module will:
    i. Understand the principles and processes involved in cultural event planning and management;
    ii. Aquire skills in designing management plans for events;
    iii. Learn effective tools to prepare a site plan;
    iv. Understand the different roles involved in event planning and their organisational requirements including permits and health and safety;
    v. Aquire basic knowledge on logistics and operations;
    vi. Understand principles of sustainability
    vii. Aquire knowledge in creating and managing budgets for cultural events;
    viii. Learn how to measure and evaluate an event in terms of capacity and impact.
  2. Marketing for Cultural Events
    Participants completing the module will:
    i. Understand essential traditional and digital marketing principles and tools, including advertising, that provide an integrated approach in communicating and promoting cultural events;
    ii. Learn how to design and develop a detailed marketing plan . iii. Learn how to identify, reach and engage a target audience and how to increase audiences;
  3. Stage and Production Management
    Participants completing the module will:
    i. Understand stage and production management principles, roles and related technical terms;
    ii. Aquire knowledge on the technical requirements of stage design, logistics and stage management including lights, sounds, stagecraft and related technology.
